Education
Joshua Lyon founded RTFMT with the vision & drive to improve the lives of veterans, soon-to-be veterans, & their families. He enjoys hiking, shooting guns (goes without saying), attending medical trainings (CPR and Basic First Aid), overworking himself, running, & follows hockey (Carolina Hurricanes & the upcoming Greensboro Gargoyles!). He enjoys reading psychological, neuroscience, and business material.
He served 5 years in the Army Military Police. Stationed in Korea, Haiti, & Afghanistan (he was awarded a Combat Action Badge due to a vehicle-borne IED or VBIED at a Kandahar Police Station in 2012, a NATO Non-Article 5 Award, & his unit was awarded the Valorous Unit Award for OEF).
Since his transition out of the military, he has self-published several short stories on Amazon & attained a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Psychology from Liberty University and completed a course in Positive Psychology by UNC-Chapel Hill. The career fields he transitioned through were private security, insurance, non-profit, and mental health. In mental health he worked in a group home and also done Supported Employment work. Working in employment work for years gave him insight in how to develop career assisting programs for RTFMT.
My life slogan is, "Love, lead, and learn so that others can be happy and healthy in mind, body, and spirit."
